With non-stop reports of snowy weather on the horizon, now might be the best time to start planning a day out to enjoy it with your family or friends. How else are you going to throw snowballs at each other until your fingers go numb?
So grab your gloves and woolly hat, we’re going to take you on a tour of four of the best winter walks you can find in and around Surrey.
For the animal lovers among you, Richmond Park could be the perfect place to visit. There are woodlands to explore, a park to enjoy and even wild deer to be found roaming around, so bring a camera!
Frimley Lodge Park
If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids, Frimley Lodge Park could be the destination of your next family day out. Boasting a site of 24 hectares, there’ll be more than enough room for the little ones to wear themselves out. Failing that, there’s two children’s play areas, miniature railway, and woodland to enjoy.
History buffs might be drawn to this next one. Polesden Lacey is a 1,400-acre estate that dates back to the times of gladiators and coliseums. The Roman park prides itself on its historic farmsteads and ancient woodlands. With two working farms to see, there’s a little something for everyone on this 4.2-mile walk.
Virginia Water Lake
If long bodies of water are more your speed, you may be interested in a peaceful walk along Virginia Water Lake. While you’re there look out for extraordinary sights, such as an obelisk erected by George II, a totem pole measuring in at 100 foot, and the section of a ruined city brought into Surrey all the way from Africa.
