Whether you’re attending for the world-class sport or simply the chance to soak in the electric atmosphere, Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of the British summer calendar.
This year’s event will take place between Tuesday 17 and Saturday 20 June and is expected to see over 250,000 visitors over the course of the festival.
Ladies Day and Gold Cup history await
Among the numerous races to take place across the five days is the Gold Cup, the oldest and most prestigious race of the meeting.
First held in 1807, the Gold Cup is traditionally run on the Thursday of the meeting, a day colloquially referred to as Ladies Day due to the fashion and elegance on show, with attendees often donning their finest dresses and most extravagant hats.
Last year’s Gold Cup was record-breaking as Trawlerman secured a seven-length victory at the Royal Ascot, setting a new track record of 4 minutes and 15.02 seconds.
