The highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup has finally arrived!
While some of us will be staying up late to watch the action unfold from home, many football fans will be making the journey overseas to experience it live.
FIFA believes more than five million supporters from around the world will attend the tournament and England is expected to be one of the best supported nations based on ticket sales.
For fans travelling abroad, the excitement starts long before kick-off. Booking flights and planning your itineraries is all part of the experience and so is your journey to the airport.
A World Cup like no other
The FIFA World Cup 2026 promises to be unlike any tournament before it. It is the first time in history that three nations will co-host the competition.
A record-breaking 48 teams will compete across Canada, Mexico and the USA during the 37-day tournament.
The action begins in Mexico on June 11 and the final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.
England’s route to the latter stages has already sparked excitement after FIFA introduced a Wimbledon-style seeding system. This means the Three Lions cannot face Spain or Argentina until the semi-finals or France until a potential final, if all four nations top their groups.
