October half-term – Activities to do with the kids

It only feels like yesterday since the children went back to school, and yet here we are on the verge of the first half-term of the academic year. If you are at a loss with what to do with the kids this October, then take a read of some of the best half-term activities that are available.

Autumn Magik – Winkworth Arboretum

Winkworth Arboretum has been taken over this October half-term by Willow the Witch as she attempts to create an autumnal colour explosion. Children will have lots of fun exploring the changing colours of the leaves that traditionally surrounds autumn. Can they become Willow’s witch apprentice?

Autumn Magik runs from 21-29 October, 10:00 – 17:00. The price of admission is £2.

Hobble’Ween at Hobbledown

Hobbledown is the place to be this half-term, with a whole host of spooky fun for you and the family to enjoy. ‘Hobble’Ween’ has it all, from a pumpkin trail and a Halloween show to a monster ball and Einstein’s spooky science workshops.

Hobble’Ween runs from 21-29 October with ticket prices starting from £18.

Chessington World of Adventure’s Howl’o’ween event

This half-term, Chessington World of Adventure is hosting a spellbinding Howl’o’ween event that promises fun for the entire family. The event features a range of activities and attractions to keep everyone entertained.

Day tickets start at £35 online, and overnight stays start at £67 per person, based on a family of four.

Low bang fireworks at Godstone farm

A fireworks extravaganza that is kinder to sensitive ears, this event takes place on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October. While the noise has been removed, all the colour and sparkle remains, as the fireworks display is choreographed to music from the movies.

The evening also includes a fun pre-show with plenty of dancing and games. Food and drinks are also available.

Admission to the even is strictly by pre-booked tickets only.

‘Air Heads’ – Brooklands Museum

Brooklands Museum in Weybridge is running a special ‘Air Heads’ event between 21-29 October, celebrating the history of aviation.

The event will see a whole host of activities during the week, including the paper aircraft workshop, vintage bus rides, and Concorde supersonic walkthroughs.

Opening times are 10:00 – 17:00. Admission prices vary per person but under 5’s go free.
