Take in a show this Autumn, check out the latest offerings from London’s theatres

With the days getting shorter and the weather getting colder, finding things to do becomes a little more restricted. Luckily, the warm and cosy invite of London’s theatres are on hand to brighten up the gloomy autumnal months.

Here are just a few of the latest shows on offer in the capital that are guaranteed to entertain.

A View From The Bridge

Arthur Miller’s classic play arrives at the Rose Theatre in Kingston from 31 October.

The story revolves around Eddie Carbone (played by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star Jonathan Slinger) and his tempestuous relationship with wife Beatrice (Kirsty Bushell) and orphaned niece, Catherine (Rachelle Diedericks).

This tragic yet compelling story has been modernised, as it brings to the forefront the psychology of the play and its gender politics.

Running time – 2 hours 25 minutes (including interval)

ABBA Voyage

One of the world’s most successful pop groups of all time have yet again caused a frenzy, this extraordinary show is one of the hottest tickets in London right now.

While the Swedish super troupers aren’t there in person, their personalities are brought to life in the form of digital versions using the latest motion capture technology.

The digital ABBA legends are supported by a live 10-piece band and are illuminated by a vivid array of special effects, making this a performance that will live long in the memory.

ABBA Voyage can be seen at the state-of-the-art ABBA Arena located at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London.

Running time – 100 minutes (no interval)

Dear England

A story surrounding current England football manager Gareth Southgate shouldn’t really make for a great play, but award-winning writer James Graham has executed this show to perfection.

Dear England does more than tell the story of Gareth Southgate (played by The Handmaid’s Tale star Joseph Fiennes), it shines a light on the England men’s football team and delves into the psychology behind every painful defeat the team have suffered in the past.

The show runs for a 14-week stint at the Prince Edward Theatre in London’s West End, opening on 9 October.

Running time – 2 hours and 50 minutes (including interval)

Frank and Percy

A two-man tour de force carries Frank and Percy, which is currently being shown at The Other Palace Theatre in London until 17 December 2023.

The production stars acting giants Ian McKellen and Roger Allam in the titular roles, as both men form an unexpected relationship while out walking their dogs.

A heartening tale with plenty of laughs throughout, McKellen and Allam make Frank and Percy a must watch.

Running time – 2 hours and 20 minutes (including interval)
